Aoyama Gakuin University Scholarship
AGU Scholarship 2022

Supporting students who continue to take on challenges without fear of failure

Aoyama Gakuin University has established various scholarship programs, including the Bandai Fund, to support students' learning from various angles. These scholarships are also supported by donations from alumni, and recently alumnus Hiroaki Kobayashi, who is the chairman and president of Paloma Co., Ltd., made a personal donation of 1 billion yen to the Bandai Fund. Kobayashi's donation will be used as the Kobayashi Hiroaki Fund, and the investment profits will be used to support young people who will attend Aoyama Gakuin University in the future. In this article, we will introduce the university's scholarship programs along with a special discussion on the theme of "Resolve to take on challenges - an encouragement to young people."

What is the Bandai Fund?

The Bandai Fund is a fund for students at Aoyama Gakuin. It was established based on the Christian spirit of love and service, with donations made by the late alumnus Junshiro Bandai. The fund is used for three purposes: to enrich grant-type scholarships (Financial Aid), to enrich education and research funds (AOYAMA VISION), and to manage the Bandai Basic Fund (savings type).

Voices of scholarship recipients

The option of a grant-type scholarship was helpful
Faculty of Law Male

I borrowed a loan-type scholarship when I was in high school, and since repayment would begin as soon as I graduated from university, I was unable to borrow any more loan-type scholarships. In this situation, I was truly grateful to receive a grant-type scholarship. I feel that through the scholarship, I am able to live my life with the support of many people. I will study law seriously at the Faculty of Law, and when I become a local civil servant, which is my dream for the future, I would like to use what I have learned to help many people.

In the future, I want to become a teacher and contribute to society.
Faculty of Social and Information Studies

My father is nearing retirement age, so continuing to attend university for the next four years will put a big burden on our family finances. Because I am taking a teacher training course, I will have to pay tuition fees in addition to the regular tuition fees, but taking the teacher training course is essential to achieving my dream of becoming a mathematics teacher, which has been my dream since middle school, so I absolutely did not want to give up on it. I was able to receive the scholarship, which has relieved some of my financial worries and allowed me to concentrate on my studies. I am grateful that I will be able to continue my studies at university.

Concerns about tuition fees resolved
Graduate School of Science and Engineering Male

Due to the impact of COVID-19, my parents lost their income and my family was in a very difficult financial situation. In such a situation, I received a scholarship, which I used to subsidize my tuition fees and to set up a communication environment to take online classes, and I was able to live as a student at Aoyama Gakuin, which was my dream. My parents' jobs have not returned to normal, and the difficult situation continues, but thanks to the scholarship, I am able to focus on my studies without having to rely on part-time work. I would like to continue to study hard, never forgetting my gratitude.
