Aoyama Gakuin University has been working to contribute to society under the school motto "Salt of the Earth, Light of the World." In order to strengthen its organizational capabilities as a university, the university will open a Civic Engagement Center in 2022 and establish a new Social Cooperation Division to further its efforts. In this article, we will introduce the university's social contributions and its collaboration with the Children's Castle Choir, which continues to be active in the local community.

The 72nd All-Japan University Baseball Championship began on Monday, June 5th, and our university (representing Tohto University) won three games from the first game on Tuesday, June 6th at the Tokyo Dome. In the final on Sunday, June 11th at Meiji Jingu Baseball Stadium, we comfortably defeated Meiji University (representing the Tokyo Big Six Universities) 4-0, clinching our fifth championship since the 2005 tournament.

The Campus Tour Guide Volunteer (CTGV) is a student volunteer group that guides high school students and their parents visiting both the Aoyama and Sagamihara campuses in a tour format. As social systems become more complex, graduate schools and doctoral programs that conduct highly specialized research are drawing renewed attention. Our university also launched a new program called the AGU Future Eagle Project (FEP) in November 2021 to support students in doctoral programs (and students in their third year or above of integrated doctoral programs). In this article, we will introduce the background to the launch of FEP and some key points.

In May 2022, the Aoyama Data Science Education Conference (aDSec) was established within the Aoyama Standard Education Institute. The Graduate School of Science and Engineering launched the Data Scientist Training Program in 2019 and has been working to train practical data scientists. Through initiatives such as aDSec, the program will be expanded to the entire university and accelerated.

Our university's College of Science and Engineering has made great strides, publishing numerous papers and receiving high marks in the "Science and Engineering University Rankings" in the scientific journal "Newton." In April 2022, we established the "Faculty of College of Science and Engineering and Engineering Life Science Research Center." The Academic Excellence Award is given to students enrolled in each faculty or graduate school who are in their second year or above and are recognized as having excellent academic performance in the previous year. The award includes a plaque and a prize. In 2022, 287 students were awarded the award.
