In order to support students' learning, our university has established various scholarship programs, including the Bandai Fund. These scholarships are also supported by donations from alumni, and recently alumnus Hiroaki Kobayashi, who is the president and CEO of Paloma Co., Ltd., donated 1 billion yen to the Bandai Fund as a personal donation. This time, we will introduce our university's scholarship programs along with a special discussion on the theme of "Determination to take on challenges - cheers for young people."

Aoyama Gakuin will celebrate its 150th anniversary in November 2024. As part of its commemorative projects, Aoyama Gakuin began compiling the "150-Year History of Aoyama Gakuin" in 2014 and established the "Aoyama Gakuin 150-Year History Compilation Office" within its Resource Center. On April 1, 2021, this history compilation office was expanded to open the "Aoyama Gakuin History Research Institute," an affiliated research institute of Aoyama Gakuin University.

The 98th Tokyo-Hakone Round-Trip College Ekiden Race (Hakone Ekiden) was held again this year over two days, January 2nd (Sun) and 3rd (Mon), 2022. Last year, our university's track and field team (long distance block) regrettably won the return leg and finished in 4th place overall, but this year they got their revenge and won the overall championship for the 6th time in 2 years. The team, which Coach Hara Susumu himself called "the best team in the history of Aoyama Gakuin University," won the championship.

In recent years, private spacecraft have been put into practical use in the United States, and people who are not astronauts have more opportunities to go into space. From now on, space development will become more and more familiar to us. Aoyama Gakuin University College of Science and Engineering and Graduate School of Science and Engineering are actively conducting research and education in the aerospace field.

The Academic Excellence Award is given to students enrolled in each faculty or graduate school who are in their second year or above and are recognized as having excellent academic performance in the previous year. The award includes a plaque and a prize. In 2021, 281 students were awarded the award.
